Discom award for Prakasam district(6 th Dec 2008)
ONGOLE: The Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (SPDCL) has selected Prakasam district for exemplary performance award for the year 2007-08 on the basis of parameters like revenue collection, new substations, reduction of line losses, etc.
CMD of the SPDCL Gopala Reddy will give away the award to Superintending Engineer T. Ram Singh at a meeting to be held in Guntur on September 14.
Speaking to newspersons on Thursday, Mr. Singh said that Prakasam circle had been able to increase its revenue collection from Rs. 23 crores to Rs. 26 crores. With the setting up of nine new substations and laying of new lines, the line losses had come down from 20 per cent to 15 per cent in rural areas and from 12 per cent to 10 per cent in urban areas.
The circle had erected 950 new transformers to supply quality power without interruption to the consumers. It also implemented energy audit in every feeder to know line losses.
Wherever technical losses were found, new lines were laid to improve quality. The circle stepped up vigilance wherever commercial losses were detected.
